Joyful and exuberant Madrid is the Spain’ capital, and as such Madrid’s attractions offer the visitor loads to do and see.
As with other major European cities Madrid’s historical buildings are rich in heritage and architectural splendor. You don’t want to miss out on walking down the Gran Via with its first class examples of 20th century architecture. Also pay a visit to the Royal Palace and Prado Museum, especially since the latter is also the most important of Madrid’s art galleries.

And speaking of art galleries, the Reina Sofía Museum is a great way of polishing up on your knowledge of Spanish art since it houses works by well-known Spanish artists such as Miro, Dali and Picasso.
Madrid’s parks and squares are great for relaxing after a busy day of taking in sights and attractions. Places like the Retiro Park, Botanic Garden and the well-known Plaza Mayor are attractions you can visit when in need of resting your feet in a laid-back environment.
Spanish food is world famous, and you need to know the best food attractions Madrid has to offer. Enjoy traditional tapas – starters, in effect – in La Calle Cuchilleros, not far from the Plaza Mayor.
…and last but not least, when in Spain, do like the Spaniards to and go see a bullfight. There are two major bullfighting rings in Madrid, Vista Alegre and Las Ventas. A must-do especially if you’re not visiting other regions of Spain! |
