Madrid hostels

There is no shortage of lodging in Spain's capital city, perhaps because there is no shortage of interest in one of the largest cities in southern Europe. Madrid has a rich history that you can see in the variety of its attractions. For a stay of any length in Madrid, one option will be to situate yourself relatively near Plaza de Dos de Mayo , where much of the city's best nightlife is, and where some of the best backpackers hostels are.

The area around the Plaza , referred to as Malasaña, is one of the most unique and interesting areas in the city. For as little as $18 you can get a bed at Hostel One  Malasaña , a charming place that is right in the famed alternative district itself. The quarter is exciting and lively and is filled with cafe/galleries that host new artists each month who sell and display their one-of-a-kind wares in a vibrant atmosphere. The hostel is close enough to facilitate a visit focused completely on  Malasaña. For those who wish to control their budget, One  Malasaña has its own kitchen that is free for use by its guests, as well as computers with free Internet so that you may plan your trip perfectly, and react to any of the inevitable surprises of traveling.

Another hostel located nearby  Malasaña is The Living Roof Backpacker's Hostel. Beds run a bit more expensive at around $20, but the hostel itself is located in a refurbished 15th century Madrilian house, complete with a central patio. Living Roof offers free sangria at night to jump-start the Spanish tastes of its guests before they head out for the night to explore the wonders around them, all within walking distance. You can borrow a laptop for free in order to plan or make changes to your European tour, or you can taste some of their sangria to start you off on one of Living Roof's pub-crawls, walking tours or tapas tours.

For those who wish to explore more of the traditional center of Madrid, there is Los Amigos Sol Backpacker's Hostel where beds run at around $22. Right outside the door is more of the great Madrilian nightlife, including clubs and tapas bars. The hostel is very close to the Puerta del Sol , the Opera House and Plaza Mayor , meaning that many of the typical attractions of Madrid are easily accessible. As the name suggests, Los Amigos is ideal for backpackers and goes out of its way to provide for the most avid travelers, providing a comfortable common room, a book exchange, sangria parties, and no curfew to give you as much freedom as possible while exploring Madrid.
