In the centre of Iberian Peninsula , Madrid is a modern city with imposing monuments that witness the times of overseas expansion, when Spain governed almost half the world.
Be aware that Madrilenos take “ La Siesta ”, the only way to stand for the really high temperatures, especially in the summer. This means that most shops and business are closed from approximately 2pm until 5pm while bars and restaurants close from about 4pm until about 8 or 9pm.
On the other hand, at night, Madrid never stops and there's no better expression to stand for what goes on there than “ La Movida ” (The Action).
